Introduction
David Saul Marshall (born 12 March 1908, Singapore - death. 12 December 1995, Singapore) Singapore's
first elected Chief Minister from 6 April 1955 to 7 June 1956, a diplomat, a top-notch criminal lawyer, head of the Labour
party and founder of Workers' Party. The politician with his trademark pipe, was well-known for his great oral skill and stirring
speeches made in Fullerton Square as well as clashes with the ruling party, PAP, and Lee Kuan Yew on the political arena.
He also served as Singapore's first Ambassador to France, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland between 1978 to 1993 on the invitation
of former Foreign Minister S Rajaratnam.
He was in St Andrews from 1919 to 1921. He had contributed
alot to Singapore's status now. Firstly, he fought for a more independent goverment for Singapore, which he lost in the end,
and he resigned from his post.
